Of All the Mommy Jobs I Hate...

In my years as a Mama (9 and counting with my own children, plus all my pseudo-kids at the daycare), I have had to clean up poop, pee, puke, and Lord knows what else.

Still, the "mommy-job" I hate the worst is folding laundry.  Seriously.  I hate folding laundry.  "Hate" is not nearly a strong enough word.  I don't mind washing it.  I actually enjoy carting it out to the backyard to hang it on the line and taking it down, because I get to be outside.  But folding it just....sucks.

I can't just turn the dryer back on, because I line-dry my clothes (except in the winter).  So they sit on my couch, waiting to be folded.  The clothes that I do dry, like, "unmentionables" sit in the dryer, lonely.  And in the meantime, the wrinkle so badly that its almost a good enough reason to re-wash them.  Which, frankly, is more pleasant than folding.

Last night, my poor Barb Wire Man opened his drawer and asked where all his underwear went.  I told him they were all still in the dryer.  He reminded me that they had been in the dryer for several days, and wondered if I was ever going to fold them.  I told him I would, and I did.  I folded the underwear from last week.  The ones I washed today are still in the damn dryer.  Come next week, when he is out of undies, the same scenario will unfold.  I think after 8 years he has learned that this is just something he will have to accept about me.

I hate folding laundry.  What is your least favorite household chore?

Be blessed!

    1. DISHES! Yes, I don't like putting dishes away. Don't mind washing them! Good thing the dishwasher door can just close, and no one knows!

  2. I am right there with you. Folding the laundry. I've even gotten to the point a couple of times where I've folded it all and laid out shirts to hang up and it will sit there like that (folded and ready to be put away) for a week. The funny thing is that Jay will help...but I always have to ask. I'm always confounded by that b/c we all see it sitting there, we move it even sometimes to a different room or a different side of the couch or whatever...but still it sits. :D What is the mental block about putting away laundry? :D
I am with you also on the enjoying hanging things to dry, washing and sorting laundry. All seem way easier than folding and putting away. I have found that folding in my laundry room (which I like) helps sometimes.

    1. You know, there have been times that I've made it far enough in to hang the clothes on the door knob of my closet. Why can't I just hang them IN the closet!!

  3. LOL OK I needed a good chuckle this morning. and YOU gave i to me! I hate folding and putting them away, except for towels and wash/dish cloths. Those I don't mind!

Often I only take the last load out of the dryer when there is no other option!

As time goes by... it will get worse! Trust me!

  4. I SO hate grocery shopping! You load the cart, unload it to scan everything, load it again in bags, unload it at your car...then unload it at your house, and unload the bags one last time into cabinets/fridge/freezer!!!! Whew I get tired. Then because you have grocEries you are expected to cook!!! Dang....

  5. I hate putting away clothes too. But I find that by folding as they come off the line, helps me get that chore done easier, since as soon as it hits the door I can yell at kiddos to put thier laundry away (yes I am in the prossess of teaching miss 2 y.o. to put her clothes away). If I don't fold them while outside, they will sit in the basket for eternity!
